What is American Pool?

American Pool is one of the world's most popular cue sports, played on 7-foot and 9-foot tables in disciplines such as 8 Ball, 9 Ball and 10 Ball.

Combining skill, strategy and precision, American Pool has produced legendary champions including Efren Reyes, widely regarded as the greatest player of all time, alongside icons such as Earl Strickland, Shane Van Boening and Joshua Filler.

The sport is enjoyed by millions of players worldwide, from social beginners through to elite professionals.

At Club9 in North Strathfield, players can learn and improve their American Pool skills through professional coaching with Head Coach Greg Jenkins, a multiple Australian and Oceania Champion.

Whether you are new to the game or looking to compete at a higher level, our coaching programs help players of all ages develop technique, cue ball control and match confidence.

American Pool Games you can Play

We supply all the equipment you need to enjoy these popular games with your group.

8 Ball

You are assigned either the spots or the stripes. Your goal is to sink all of your group first. Once your group is cleared, you must pot the black 8 ball to win the match.

9 Ball

A fast game using only nine balls numbered one to nine. Your cue ball must always hit the lowest numbered ball first. The winner is the player who legally sinks the 9 ball.

10 Ball

This is very similar to 9 ball but requires more precision. You use ten balls, and you must announce exactly which pocket you are aiming for before every single shot.
